What loan options does Just Borrow cover?

A personal loan describes what you borrow; an installment loan describes how you repay it. “Bad credit” describes a credit situation, and “emergency” describes a need. These can overlap in the same offer, rather than being four separate products.

Four ways to understand the loan offer
Loan type or needWhat it meansWhat to check
Personal loansMoney for a personal expense, such as a repair or billWhether the lender permits your purpose
Installment loansRepayment in scheduled amounts over an agreed termPayment size, frequency and total cost
Bad credit loansOptions for borrowers with a less-than-perfect credit historyAPR, affordability and credit-check consent
Emergency loansBorrowing for an unexpected, time-sensitive expenseActual funding timing and lower-cost alternatives

The maximum request is $5,000; a lender may offer less or decline. Eligibility also depends on the state you live in.

When could a personal loan make sense?

A one-off cost is easier to weigh when you know the amount you need and have room to repay it. Borrowing to cover a recurring shortfall can leave next month’s budget tighter, because the original bill and the loan payment both remain.

If you are replacing credit-card debt, compare the new loan’s fees and total repayment with the cost of paying down the card. A smaller monthly payment alone does not show that the loan is cheaper.

How do installment loans work?

You receive an agreed amount and repay it over a set schedule. Check whether payments are monthly or more frequent, whether the rate can change, and whether paying early carries a fee. A longer term can reduce each payment while increasing the total interest.

The CFPB’s installment-loan explanation describes how these loans work and the factors lenders consider.

Can you be considered with bad credit?

Different credit histories can be considered. Income, current debts and the lender’s own criteria also matter. That does not mean guaranteed approval, a guaranteed $5,000 offer or a loan without a credit review.

Soft inquiries do not affect your score; hard inquiries can. Review the authorization before sharing details or proceeding with a lender. Our walkthrough of the request process explains the points at which to pause and review.

What should you check when an expense cannot wait?

A repair or urgent bill can make speed feel like the only issue. Ask when funds would actually be available, not just when a decision might arrive. Same-day funding may be possible after approval and signing, but lender verification and bank processing can take longer.

Before borrowing, ask the bill provider about an extension or payment plan and compare any bank or credit-union options you have. Choose a payment you could still make after rent, food, utilities and existing debts.

What could a $5,000 loan cost?

The offer’s APR, fees and term determine its cost. Just Borrow is free to use. The lender may charge interest and fees, which should be checked in the agreement before signing.

An illustrative repayment example

For $5,000 borrowed over 36 months at a fixed 24% APR with no fees, the payment is approximately $196.16 per month. Total repayment is about $7,061.91, including $2,061.91 in interest. The last payment may be adjusted for rounding.

This shows the calculation only. It is not an offer, an average rate or a promise of available terms. Your APR could be substantially higher or lower.

APR brings interest and certain fees into an annualized cost measure. Compare the amount you actually receive, the APR and the total of payments together. The CFPB explains fees to check in an installment-loan disclosure.

What happens if you miss a payment?

Your agreement sets the repayment dates, possible late fees and any renewal terms. Missed payments can lead to collection activity and may affect your credit if reported. Contact your lender early if repayment looks difficult; extending or renewing a loan may add cost and is not always available.
